“The Making of Mona”

28 1/2 x 24 1/2 Acrylic on Canvas. This painting was inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s “Madonna and the Yarnwinder”…….I think it is important when reproducing a piece from the Old Masters”, to hold the integrity of the original work of art, by honoring and respecting the master before you, and this is what I aimed to do first and foremost, while adding my own unique style, and mood to his inspirational piece. In my painting, I focused on color, and made the woman and child more intimate to me. The woman’s face in the painting is not detailed and complete, realistically speaking, because she is being created, or re-created rather…..She is sleeping, while the cupid/angel child next to her, works miracles.
