“Mary”

26 3/4 x 22 3/4 Acrylic on canvas. Every time I paint Mary, she just seems to gracefully fall onto the canvas with an effortless flow……it happens every time. And in this particular painting, I started painting her in with my brush, with a vision completely different than what you see here, but once I got her on the canvas, something about her felt so perfect and complete that I did not want to touch her. And you know how when the sun is shining on a person, and you lose sight of their features, particularly in a photograph, and the person because completely white in areas due to the light? Well this is how I see Mary in this painting………the incomplete sections of the painting represent the light on her, or through her, fading out her features. Mary is a vessel for the Light of God.
